Train service between Port Harcourt and Aba resumes On Tuesday: NRC

Tuesday will see the return to normal train operations along the Port Harcourt-Aba line, according to the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).
According to the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), regular train service between Port Harcourt and Aba would be back in full swing on Tuesday.
This is stated in a statement made on Monday in Enugu by Onyedikachi Onovo, the spokesperson for the eastern district on behalf of the NRC management.
Kayode Opeifa, the managing director of NRC, revealed the company’s decision to suspend service between Port Harcourt and Aba for routine maintenance in a statement released on September 5.
The video depicting Port Harcourt-Aba Train Service passengers hiking vast distances and even crossing a creek in search of other methods of transportation has caught the attention of the National Railways Commission (NRC), according to Mr. Onovo.
“On Wednesday, September 3, at approximately 16:22 hrs., this occurred after the train broke down at Imo River.”
In a previous statement, he said, the company’s leadership had apologized for the trouble the incident caused passengers.
The train, which was traveling from Aba to Port Harcourt, experienced an unusual breakdown, according to Mr. Onovo.
“Also, an alternate engine, Loco 2306, was promptly sent to free the trapped train,” he said, noting that the problem remained even after the NRC’s engineers tried to fix the locomotive.
“Although some customers opted for different ways to get where they were going, everyone got back home safely.”
It has been brought back to Port Harcourt and is now undergoing extensive repairs to make sure it can resume service in accordance with improved quality control, according to Mr. Onovo.
“Anyone whose train ride has been impacted by this disruption is encouraged to come to our stations in Port Harcourt or Aba with proof of payment so that we can consider offering a refund or a replacement,” he stated.
Safer, more dependable, and more customer-friendly train services nationwide are the NRC’s top priorities, as Mr. Onovo reaffirmed.
