PAP: Gov. Diri receives Amnesty Administrator In Yenagoa.

According to Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, financing is essential to the Presidential Amnesty Program’s success.
The Government should provide sufficient financing for the Presidential Amnesty Program (PAP) so that it can operate efficiently.
Diri further emphasized that PAP was purposefully created to provide some kind of assistance to the deserted oil-rich region, not as a gift to the Niger Delta.
“I like my brothers from other states to recognize that amnesty was not a gift to the Niger Delta but to bring succor to a people that had been abandoned.”
After meeting with PAP Administrator Dr. Dennis Otuaro and his delegation at Government House in Yenagoa on Friday, Governor Diri made the call.
The governor emphasized how important funding was to the program’s continued existence.
He argued that to solve the PAP’s financial difficulties, state administrations and Niger Delta National Assembly members must work together.
He said: “There is no place that will survive without funds. These are some of the issues that we as governors can also support in ensuring that our National Assembly members make the contacts and synergize so that these issues will not be left for you alone to handle.”
To guarantee that the initiative had a significant impact, he counseled Dr. Otuaro to establish connections with the pertinent state governments in the area, pointing out that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) also faced comparable difficulties that have impacted its operations.
The governor of Bayelsa issued a warning against the demand to discontinue the program, stating that the problems that prompted its creation had not been resolved.
He argues that the production of crude oil continues to be an important part of the country’s economy, even with the shift to renewable energy, and that the program should continue.
highlighted the PAP’s crucial role in the area while recalling a brief history of the Ijaw people’s armed struggle dating back to Jasper Adaka Boro’s time.
“For a long time, the Jaws have been suffocated in an edifice that they have dedicated all of their natural and human resources to. A protracted scream of underdevelopment and neglect has been heard over the years.
“Justice and progress were essentially the goals of the first armed conflict in Ijawland. The Bayelsa State village, Oloibiri, where commercial crude oil was first extracted in 1956, is now a shadow of its former glory. Nothing that produced all of Nigeria’s trillions of naira was plowed back into Oloibiri.
In addition to praising the previous program managers for setting up training facilities throughout the area, the governor criticized the state’s Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area’s Kaiama training center for vandalism and encouraged Otuaro to renovate it.
During his remarks, the PAP Administrator asked the state government for assistance in providing funds for its training initiatives.
Otuaro stated that to guarantee the program’s success, all pertinent parties needed to be consulted when it was in the rehabilitation and reintegration stage.
While the program’s breadth was growing, he pointed out that funding was cut in half starting in 2014, especially when roughly 1,681 students were enrolled in the nation’s higher institutions and 38 students were studying overseas.
Additionally, Otuaro revealed that 98 marine cadets had recently been dispatched inside the nation, emphasizing the necessity of expanding the program to include business-oriented women stakeholders.
“Ijaw people are happy with the prevailing peace and security because Bayelsa is the homogenous state for all Ijaws,” he said, praising Senator Diri and his administration’s efforts to keep Bayelsa peaceful.
