Okaba, INC leader, highlights issues facing the oil industry

Ijaw National Congress (INC) Global President Prof. Benjamin Okaba claims that inadequate implementation, not a lack of policies, is the primary issue confronting the country’s oil sector.
Speaking at the GbaramatuVoice 10th Anniversary Lecture and Night of Honour in Abuja, Okaba made this statement in a paper he gave.
The study was titled “Gaps and Silence in Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Economy: Evaluation of Media Dynamics, Security, and Resource Control.”
In accordance with the Petroleum Industry Act, he said that additional community-focused reform resources were needed to address the ecological and socioeconomic challenges in the Niger Delta.
He added that in order to make quiet unsustainable, funding for advocacy media and domestic industrialization have to take precedence above export rents.
He asserts that closing these gaps is crucial to turning the “curse of oil” into a fair energy future as Nigeria aims to produce 2.5 million barrels per day (bpd).
“We must take very seriously the reality that there are enormous gaps and silences in many areas of our nation, including agriculture, healthcare delivery, and education.
“Systemic corruption, mass indiscipline, and unaddressed constitutional violations are the main causes of this,” he stated.
According to Okaba, this has left a lot of people dissatisfied and frustrated, which has made backwards movements appealing.
“We must all step up to the challenge and work together to be resolute in our determination to both individually and collectively rebuild our nation and reestablish our pride, prosperity, and dignity.
He asked the media to keep bringing attention to the difficulties that Niger Delta people endure.
“To every politician and policymaker, govern as though your legacy depends on justice in the creeks; the media is a true weapon of justice.”
“There is no victim in the Niger Delta. We are Nigeria’s moral compass. Give the creeks a chance to talk. Listen to Nigeria. He added, “And let the world bear witness.”
Additionally, Okaba stated that the Niger Delta could no longer count on the support of organizations that had fallen short of its standards.
“The Niger Delta cannot continue to wait for approval from organizations that have consciously chosen to ignore our pain and deafen to our reality.
Our injuries are not imperceptible. We are not crying in vain. Furthermore, our humanity cannot be compromised. “The moment has arrived to embrace genuine empowerment and move beyond simple exposure,” he stated.
