Jonathan Only Southerner Who Can Defeat Tinubu – Adeyanju

According to human rights attorney Deji Adeyanju, former President Goodluck Jonathan is still the only person from the South who can defeat President Bola Tinubu in the general elections scheduled for 2027.

However, according to OVL News, Adeyanju voiced skepticism about the former president entering the race.

Posting on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “GEJ is the only southern candidate that can defeat Tinubu but I don’t think he will run against Tinubu.”

The Nigerian Constitution allows Jonathan to seek for a four-year term again, the activist pointed out.

“GEJ is not constitutionally prohibited from contesting,” Adeyanju stated. Our rules prohibit the creation of legislation that specifically target any one person. Have a wonderful day, sir. If I try to explain this to you right now, you might get a headache.

He also accused Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in 2023, of manipulating religion to garner support.

“This was how the church secured six million votes for Obi in 2023. We will not be alive and watch you religious bigots rewrite history,” he wrote.

In contrast to Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2023, he insisted that Obi would not be permitted to duplicate the approach in 2027.

“In a nation with many different religions, I can never accept a man who uses religion to further his political agenda. Despite my concerns, Obi went around mosques to campaign, so at least the Muslim-Muslim guys didn’t,” Adeyanju continued.
