IPF Honours Engr. Matthew Tonlagha at 50, Describes Him as a Priceless Asset to the Ijaw Nation

The Ijaw Publishers Forum (IPF) has joined the global community in celebrating the 50th birthday of one of its distinguished members, Engr. Matthew Tonlagha, as he marks his Golden Jubilee.

In a special tribute, the Forum described Engr. Tonlagha as a priceless gift from God to the Ijaw nation, hailing him as a trailblazer whose contributions to the development of the Ijaw people and the broader Niger Delta region remain invaluable. The Forum noted that his life and service have been a source of hope, inspiration, and positive transformation to many.

This commendation was contained in a statement jointly signed on Sunday by the IPF National President, Comrade Ozobo Austin, and the Forum’s Spokesman, Comrade Ezekiel Daniel.

According to the statement, “Engr. Matthew Tonlagha’s unwavering dedication to public service, community development, peacebuilding, security, and nation-building has earned him widespread respect and admiration across the Niger Delta. The Forum particularly lauded Engr. Tonlagha’s exceptional role in promoting peace, security, and sustainable development in the Niger Delta, recalling his leadership and calming influence during periods of heightened tension in the region.

“As the intellectual arm of the Ijaw struggle for self-determination, we celebrate Engr. Tonlagha as a special gift to our people and commend the exceptional roles he has played in advancing peace, security, and development in the Niger Delta,” the statement read. “We cannot hastily forget how he courageously led the path of peace alongside other leaders when the region was engulfed in unrest in recent years.”

The IPF further expressed deep appreciation for his service, stating, “We respect him, we celebrate him, and we express our unreserved gratitude for his immense contributions. We wish him many more years of service, joy, and fulfillment.”

The Forum concluded by praying for Engr. Tonlagha’s continued good health, divine wisdom, and greater success in all his future endeavors, as he continues to serve humanity and the Ijaw nation with distinction.
