Helicopter Crashes In Port Harcourt, 3 Dead Bodies Recovered.

A Helicopter crash in Port Harcourt, Rivers, a Sikorsky SK76 helicopter, registered 5NBQG and flown by East Wind Aviation, crashed today, October 24. Port Harcourt Recovers Three Dead Bodies
Yesterday, October 24, three of the eight people inside a Sikorsky SK76, registered 5NBQG and flown by East Wind Aviation, perished in a helicopter crash along the waterways in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
Greenbarge Reporters, an online publication, informed us that the accident happened at approximately 11:22 a.m. It was on its way to the Nuimantan oil rig from Port Harcourt Military Base (DNPM).
The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development spokeswoman, Odutayo Oluseyi, stated that eight people were on board.
According to reports, the plane ditched into the Atlantic Ocean seas close to Bonny Finima.
Rescue operations have been initiated, according to the authorities.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), meanwhile, has admitted to using the helicopter.
“On the 24th of October 2024, at approximately 11:22 a.m., we lost contact with the helicopter – Register Number: 5NBQG, engaged by NNPC Limited, that took off from Port Harcourt NAF Base en route the FPSO,” the corporation claimed in a statement provided to the media.
“The helicopter was operated by East Winds Aviation.”
The NNPCL confirmed that there were eight persons on board (6 passengers and 2 crew members).
According to the announcement, search and rescue operations have been launched by the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Aviation, which has now released a press statement.
According to NNPCL, three bodies have been found thus far.
“As circumstances develop, we will keep an eye on the situation and provide frequent updates.
“Our prayers are with the passengers, crew and their respective families at this very difficult time.
“We will continue to do everything possible to support the ongoing search and rescue operation.”
