FG pledges to use local materials in building to boost the economy.
In order to revitalize the country’s economy, the Federal Government has made it clear that it is dedicated to promoting and assisting the utilization of indigenous resources, talents, and competencies in the construction industry. This includes giving local contractors greater chances.
According to a statement on the ministry’s website, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, revealed this during a recent inspection visit to some flood-affected sections of the East-West Road in Delta State. These sections are currently undergoing remedial work by an indigenous contractor, Messrs. True Tech Nigeria Ltd.
Umahi emphasized that the Ministry of Works is dedicated to guaranteeing value for money, promoting the production of wealth, and creating job opportunities for local experts and professionals.
“With the goal of advancing local content as a significant catalyst for change in the economic recovery plans of the President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, and his Renewed Hope administration, the Honourable Minister of Works, His Excellency Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON, has pledged that his Ministry will support indigenous resources, skills, and capacities by expanding the opportunities available to local contractors in the construction sector, particularly in the innovative concrete technology being applied in challenging terrain across the country.” The statement was partially read.
