Details Of President Tinubu’s Meeting With NLNG Board Emerge

The details of the meeting between President Bola Tinubu and the board and management of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited at the Presidential Villa in Abuja have emerged.

According to Ogulagha vanguard, the President met with the NLNG board and management on Friday. They were led by the King of Nembe Kingdom and Board Chairman, Edmund Daukuru, and the company’s Managing Director, Philip Mshelbila.

The President reassured the commitment of his administration to the nation’s plan to switch to gas in a statement released by the presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.

He addad that, his government would Use the domestic utilisation, processing, and international export of Nigeria’s massive gas resources as a transition fuel.

Tinubu promised that more barriers, especially in the oil and gas sector, will be immediately removed to create more avenues for local companies and foreign partners.

He said: “It is now a collaborative effort in thinking and doing. We will work with all partners to redefine the future of our economy.

“It is all about growing the pie so that Nigerians will benefit. Skill development will help the many restive youths who need to be carried along and employed. Their lives need to be more predictable and prosperous.”

In his remarks, Daukuru stated that the government was informed about the frustrations experienced by non-government stakeholders during operations.

Additionally, he added that communities play a greater role in improving the situation and that issues of trust between investors and host communities must be appropriately handled with an emphasis on inclusivity throughout the entire process.

Mshelbila, for his part, appreciated the president for setting the tone early and firmly with bold, prudent, long-term reforms that “would transform the Nigerian economy within a short period of time.”
