BREAKING NEWS: FG agrees to pay a minimum wage of more than N60,000.

Beyond the N60,000 that it first suggested as the new minimum wage, the Federal Government has consented to pay more.
The decision was made during a meeting between labor leaders and the government on Monday night in Abuja to discuss the national minimum wage dispute in response to the organized labor movement’s nationwide strike.
The following resolution was made at the conclusion of the meeting: “The Tripartite Committee will meet daily for the next week to finalize an agreeable National Minimum Wage; and the President of Nigeria, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, committed to establishing a National Minimum Wage higher than N60,000..
dditional resolutions said that no worker would be victimized as a result of taking part in the industrial action, and “organized labor would immediately hold meetings of its organs to consider this new offer in recognition of the President’s commitment.”
Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the minister of state for labor and employment, and Mohammed Idris, the minister of information and national orientation, signed these resolutions on behalf of the federal government.
Festus Osifo, the president of the Trade Union Congress, and Joe Ajaero, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, represented organized labor.
Due to the Federal Government’s failure to raise the recommended minimum wage over N60,000, the NLC on Friday announced a national indefinite strike that would begin at midnight on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
After the government and organized labor failed to reach an agreement, Ajaero declared the strike.
