Rivers elders, Wike, Fubara meet privately amid political tensions .

Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, and Siminalayi Fubara, Rivers State Governor, met with the Rivers State Elders Council in Port Harcourt on Saturday to manage political tensions in the state.

Key personalities including Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker Martins Amaewhule and Elders Council Chairman Chief Ferdinand Alabraba attended the meeting.

On Sunday morning, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the FCT Minister, revealed photos from the closed-door meeting.

Olayinka posted the photos on his X account saying the encounter showed togetherness. The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Chairman of the Rivers State Elders Council, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, and other leaders met in Port Harcourt yesterday. The political family is one.”

No official comment was issued on the outcome, but Wike, Fubara, and important elders emphasize the significance of maintaining coherence in the state’s delicate political framework. Rival camps in Rivers have struggled to unite in recent political conflicts.

Stakeholders appear to be easing anxieties and restoring stability before crucial state political and governance decisions by uniting.
