PDP to Fayose: You are a betrayer, leave our party

By:Ogulaga Vanguards

Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, has been urged to resign by the PDP’s leadership in the state rather than keep making fun of the party in public.

Fayose claimed that the PDP in Ekiti State and the nation is dead, has lost its soul, and will never win another election during an appearance on a Channels Television program on Friday.

In a statement to Sunday Tribune, however, Dare Adeleke, the chairman of the state party’s caretaker committee, denounced the former governor’s remarks and added that Fayose had deserted the party twice before.

According to Adeleke, the former governor’s recent actions—particularly his unwavering support for the state’s APC government—were betrayals that could no longer be tolerated.

He said that the former governor betrayed the party because he had attempted to seize control of the PDP’s Ekiti structure but had been thwarted by party leaders and members.

According to Adeleke, the former governor has lost political significance in the state’s overall scheme of things, which has made it challenging for others to support him in his efforts to weaken the PDP in Ekiti, particularly party members and leaders.

According to him, “Why has Fayose refused to leave the same party he repeatedly described as a ‘carcass’ and ‘dead entity’?

“Eventually, he admitted he was a bitter, disgruntled man, one who betrayed his own party simply because he didn’t get what he wanted.

“Like a soldier who repeatedly sells secrets to the enemy and then complains about not getting promoted, Fayose wants rewards from the same party he undermines.

As if Nigeria is now governed by clannish affiliation and tribal passion rather than merit, “he acknowledged on live that he backed Tinubu merely because he is his friend and kinsman.

“The fact is that Fayose lobbied for control of two local government executives and was rightly denied. If Fayose was truly as politically influential as he claims, he would have moved the PDP’s structure in Ekiti to APC or ADC. But not one ward or LGA chairman has followed him.”

“I assure Fayose, the father and grandfather of betrayal, that the PDP, which he now refers to as ‘they,’ remains strong,” he said, expressing optimism that the PDP will win the state from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the poll next year. Instead of his APC- and ADC-bound jokers who will continue to be unimportant backbenchers, we will mobilize actual party loyalists.

“Let it be known, the PDP will win Ekiti State, and I am emphatic about this.”
