The Ijaw Publishers Forum (IPF) is deeply saddened by the news of the death of Chief Edwin Clark, our venerated leader and elder statesman, who passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 97.

An influential figure in Nigerian politics, Chief Clark never wavered in his support of the Niger Delta’s development and rights.

We will never be able to forget his unrelenting dedication to fairness, equality, and the advancement of the Ijaw nation.

He was a trusted counselor in several governments and held the position of Federal Commissioner for Information. He made a significant contribution to the development of national policy and debate.

The IPF offers its sincere sympathies to the Clark family, the Ijaw people, and all Nigerians who were impacted by his vision and leadership during this time of great loss.

Along with his immeasurable contributions to our society, Chief Clark’s life served as a source of motivation to future generations, demonstrating perseverance and optimism.

In remembrance of him, we promise to preserve the fundamentals he espoused and to keep striving for the development and unification of the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.
