To develop a barracks at Osubi, Okpe local government area, the Nigerian Air Force has been granted a Certificate of Occupancy on 66.6 hectares of land by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Oborevwori who made the presentation when he received a delegation of the Nigerian Air Force led by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, said “the gesture is in line with our M.O.R.E agenda; to enhance peace and security in the state because that’s the only way we can get development”.

“To collaborate with the Nigerian Air Force, we have provided 66.6 hectares of land in Osubi, and the C of O was issued in January this year,” Governor Oborevwori stated, welcoming the Air Force Chief to Delta State.

As everyone knows, the previous government initially approved it, but there was no C of O. At the time, it was intended to be an operating base. We will help build the roads that will connect the 66.6 hectares of property; we are aware that the project is currently ongoing.

The M.O.R.E. agenda aims to improve state security and peace because those are the only paths to growth. I want to let you know that, in spite of the tragic events of October 17, Delta State was already at peace.

We fully denounce the regrettable event, and we are confident that the Okuama 17 will not be forgotten. We are also trying our hardest; for the innocent citizens, we have already established an IDP camp.

“I want to assure you that, regarding your request for land for your housing scheme, we will make sure that you get the land as soon as possible. Now that you have the spirit to build a housing scheme for your personnel, we have to get the land ready immediately.

“Again, we assure you that we will continue to partner the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies in Delta State in order to continue to enjoy peace because that’s the only way sustainable development can be achieved in this state.”

Prior to this, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori received praise from Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff, for the state’s strong M.O.R.E. agenda execution as well as the years of support the Delta State government has given the Air Force.

Air Marshal Abubakar expressed his gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for the Air Force’s continuous support and collaboration from the Delta State Government, adding that he was in the state to supervise the Air Force’s operational duties in Warri.

The head of the Nigerian Air Force also expressed gratitude to the governor for granting the Air Force a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) for a 66.6-hectare plot of land for the Air Force barracks at Osubi in the Okpe Local Government Area of the state. The Air Force will be able to fully establish itself in the state thanks to this gift.

In addition, he requested additional land for the Nigerian Air Force housing plan for post-service officers in the state.
