Abuse of Naira: EFCC offers 5% reward to informants.
he Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, has announced a 5% reward for whistleblowers who provide reliable information that results in the conviction of offenders, in an effort to bolster its campaign against the misuse of the naira.
This was revealed by EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale during his appearance as a guest on the EFCC 97.3FM Abuja talk show yesterday.
The commission’s dedication to upholding the law and shielding the economy from the damaging effects of naira abuse was highlighted by Oyewale.
He clarified that the goal of the 5% reward was to incentivize people who were considering coming forward with information that could help with criminal prosecutions.

According to Oyewale, “the whistleblower act offers 5% of the total amount involved to whoever provides credible information that can withstand the rigors of prosecution and is not the result of malice and mischief.”
“He continued by saying that since the task force on naira misuse and dollarization was established, the EFCC had already succeeded in obtaining around 50 convictions nationwide.
The EFCC spokesman underlined that it was illegal to reject the naira as legal money and that individuals who did so would be subject to the full force of the law.
