With 317 projects, we’ve transformed Delta State into a construction site – Oborevwori.
The governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, said that supernatural intervention was the reason behind his administration’s transformation of the state into a gigantic construction site.
On the first anniversary of his tenure, the Governor gave these remarks at a thanksgiving service held at Living Faith Church, Ibusa Road, Asaba.
“We have turned Delta State into a construction powerhouse with 317 projects across the state, despite the intense opposition I faced, including 38 legal challenges,” Governor Oborevwori said. “Of these, 76 road projects covering 171.49 kilometers and 85.30 kilometers of drains were initiated in the past year alone.
The governor emphasized the administration’s accomplishments by announcing that the inauguration of many highways and other sector projects would shortly begin. He said, “It has been a period of trials and triumphs, tests and testimonies, adversity and hope,” as he thought back on the previous year. God has remained dependable throughout it all.
Recalling a recent vehicle accident from which his family was spared harm, Governor Oborevwori offered a firsthand account of divine intervention.
He said, “I do, in fact, owe God a debt of gratitude for His unwavering goodness, love, protection, and sustaining grace.”
Together, we shall build the Delta State of our dreams,” Oborevwori emphasized, acknowledging the support of his wife, the deputy governor, previous governors, the National and State Houses of Assembly, the judiciary, the civil service, security agencies, and numerous other leaders.
“Without the divine touch of God, I would not have been elected governor,” he said, reflecting on the 2022 PDP governorship primary, which he described as the most hotly contested in the state’s history.
Using the passage “The race is not for the swift, nor the battle for the strong, but time and chance happen to them all,” he attributed his success to divine decision.
Following his triumphs in the primary and general elections, Governor Oborevwori recalled the numerous lawsuits he faced, saying, “I fought with 38 different lawsuits from those determined to stop me, but God saw me through.”
In reference to his struggles and eventual victory, he cited Psalm 34:19, which states, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
