Tinubu’s Reason for appointing new management at CBN – Gumel
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (senate), Senator Abdullahi Gumel pointed out that,
the recent appointment of a new management team for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is intended to revitalize the bank and increase its effectiveness in fulfilling its responsibilities.
Gumel highlighted that President Bola Tinubu’s selection of the new team was part of broader initiatives to address the nation’s economic issues.
Gumel emphasized in a statement released in Abuja that the CBN’s reputation had suffered, calling for the appointment of this “rescue team” to restore its reputation.
According to him, the ECOWAS area, the African Union (AU), and not only Nigerians were looking forward to Nigeria’s economy stabilizing because it would promote peace and stability in the region.
Gumel appreciated the Senate for swiftly confirming Mr. Olayemi Cardoso and his team’s appointment as the CBN Governor and his team, acknowledging the significance of their role in the nation’s economic recovery.
He emphasized that during the screening, lawmakers effectively approached major economic concerns, expressing the opinions and expectations of the Nigerian people on the CBN’s functions.
Gumel expressed confidence that other presidential appointees will go through similar screening processes and be confirmed by the Senate in due course, demonstrating collaborative efforts to improve Nigeria’s economic prospects.
