Newly inaugurated Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike’s statement over threats made on Monday to start demolishing homes that were constructed illegally have met with mixed reactions.

At the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) office, the minister made this statement in his inaugural speech.

Wike said:
“All those people who are distorting the master plan of Abuja, too bad too bad. If you know you are building where you’re not supposed to build, it will go down.”

“If you know you have anybody that has taken the green areas, the parks, and now built restaurant. No will not accept that. If your father has done that, sorry. There is nothing I can do. It will go down.

“And those the government has given the C of O (certificate of occupancy) and refuse to develop. I don’t understand why the government will give you land and not develop,” he stated.

He added that the government needs money and will revoke any land portion sold to people and not yet developed. He also cautioned those who are not paying their rent to the government to prepare themselves because things will not continue as usual.
