Edo: Abductors shoot NSCDC officials and kidnap foreign nationals In Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, gunmen accused of kidnapping a Chinese expatriate and killing eight officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Edo State Command on Friday night.
According to information obtained by Ogullagh Vanguards, the attackers also hurt one civilian and four NSCDC officials, who are being treated at an unidentified facility.
According to reports, the officers, who were affiliated with BUA Cement Company, were ambushed close to the company’s entrance gate when they were escorting five Chinese expats back to base after a routine patrol.
According to sources, eight of the operatives were instantly killed when the assailants, who were carrying highly advanced weaponry, started fire on them. Four of the expatriates were saved, while one was kidnapped.
A senior official at the NSCDC’s Edo Command confirmed the incident, stating that the gunmen struck at around 10:00 p.m. when the operatives were on routine escort duty.
Five cops, including a civilian, were injured, and eight officers were killed. According to the official, four Chinese expatriates were rescued unharmed, while one was kidnapped.
According to the source, the gunmen ambushed the company’s entrance, engaged the NSCDC agents in a gunfight, and then fled into the jungle with one of the foreign workers.
The official stated that sister agencies have begun coordinated security efforts to search the nearby woodland, free the kidnapped foreign national, and apprehend the criminals.
Since then, Gbenga Agun, the NSCDC’s State Commandant, has visited the incident location and the hospitalized personnel that were hurt.
Efosa Ogbebor, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer in Edo, was approached but declined to comment, saying that the Corps’ national headquarters will publish a formal statement.
