Ijaw Commissioner of DESOPADEC commends IPF and vows to support and attend the next press conference.

The Ijaw Publishers’ Forum (IPF) has received a major boost in anticipation of its first Ijaw Media Conference and Annual Dialogue, which will occur in Bayelsa State on December 11, 2024. The IPF has received praise for planning this historic event from the Commissioner of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), who represents the Ijaw ethnicity on the board.

With the theme “Advancing the Quest for Economic/Political Freedom in a Siege Nation,” the conference seeks to bring together stakeholders and leaders to discuss creative ways to support the economic development of the Niger Delta and the Ijaw people.

The event aims to empower indigenous media professionals and promote economic conversation, and the Commissioner has the participation and support.

Comrade Ozobo Austin, the president and chairman of the event planning committee, leads the lPF delegation, which also includes MMD Tamsokunbiri, CEO of Kpakam Tv, Mr. Sunday Ayemofaye, CEO of Ogulagha Vanguard, Comrade Freeborn Abraye, CEO of Coastal Times newspaper, and other individuals.

The IPF’s actions were commended by the commissioner, who called them a timely intervention that offered a forum for important conversations about environmental safety, job creation, and entrepreneurship in the Niger Delta.

Nonetheless, the Commissioner’s support is anticipated to draw high-level attendance from Ijaw nation stakeholders, media professionals, and government representatives.
